Showers/Storms Return Tomorrow; Frigid Air Arrives Sunday Night/Monday | Alabama Weather Network

Showers and Storms Return Tomorrow

Today will be another dry day in Alabama with partly to mostly sunny skies and temperatures climbing into the 70s. As clouds increase tonight ahead of a surface front, showers and thunderstorms are expected tomorrow.

Rain Forecast

High-resolution models show the greatest chance of rain during the day will be across the southern two-thirds of Alabama, mainly south of I-20. Tomorrow night, a band of showers and possibly a thunderstorm will move into the Tennessee Valley as the front pushes southward.

“The SPC has defined a low-end ‘marginal risk’ (level 1/5) of severe thunderstorms for most of Alabama tomorrow, but the overall severe weather threat looks low due to limited instability and weak dynamics.”

Weekend Weather Overview

Saturday will remain mostly dry across Alabama, although a few isolated showers cannot be ruled out. Temperatures will stay mild in the 70s with a blend of sun and clouds.

Sunday Cold Front

An Arctic cold front will arrive early Sunday, preceded by a chance of a few showers and a thunderstorm late Saturday night into Sunday morning. Rain amounts are expected to be light and spotty due to limited moisture.

Following the front, a brisk north wind will drop temperatures, especially in the northern half of the state. Sunday afternoon highs will range from the mid to upper 40s near the Tennessee line to the low 70s in far South Alabama.

Summary

The return of showers and storms tomorrow will bring isolated severe risk, followed by a mostly dry and mild Saturday before an Arctic front ushers in colder air Sunday.
