Gov. JB Pritzker says an Indiana remap might force Illinois to act as he celebrates Democratic wins Tuesday

Gov. JB Pritzker Says Indiana Remap May Prompt Illinois Action Amid Democratic Wins

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker praised Democratic victories across the United States following Tuesday’s elections, attributing their success to candidates who prioritized affordability and tangible policy actions addressing economic concerns.

“Democratic candidates didn’t just talk about affordability but acted upon it, proposing real solutions and making progress,” Pritzker said.

Pritzker, a prominent critic of President Donald Trump who is eyeing a third term and possibly a 2028 presidential run, noted that Democratic wins in states such as Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maine, and California reflected public discontent with the president’s inability to control rising costs and his aggressive immigration enforcement tactics.

“Something remarkable happened Tuesday. It was partly a reaction to what’s coming from Washington, D.C.—the economic pressures and restrictions being forced upon the states. People’s rights are being taken away,” he stated.

The governor also suggested that Illinois could consider redrawing its congressional boundaries depending on how Indiana, a neighboring GOP-led state, approaches its upcoming redistricting efforts.

Author’s Summary

Pritzker linked Democratic election successes to voters’ frustrations with federal economic policies and hinted that Illinois might adjust its congressional map if Indiana moves first.
