Actor and comedian Jim Belushi, 71, looked back on one of his favorite moments from his early years in Hollywood, sharing memories that deeply connect him with his late brother, John Belushi. He spoke about this during an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at the premiere of Song Sung Blue at AFI Fest in Los Angeles on October 26.
John Belushi, a talented comedian and musician, was renowned for his performances on Saturday Night Live and in The Blues Brothers. He passed away in 1982 at the age of 33.
"John was a rising comedy star as an original cast member of Saturday Night Live, and he and costar Dan Aykroyd created their characters, 'Joliet' Jake Blues and Elwood Blues, which evolved into The Blues Brothers, a real blues and soul band."
The Blues Brothers made their first appearance as musical guests on Saturday Night Live in April 1978. Later that year, after assembling a complete band, they opened for Steve Martin during his residency at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles in September 1978.
Jim’s recollection celebrates an era of creativity and brotherhood that defined his and John’s beginnings in the entertainment industry.
Jim Belushi fondly remembers his early Hollywood days with brother John, reflecting on shared beginnings that shaped their creative legacy.
