Chicago weather: About that upcoming threat of snow...

Chicago Weather Update

Mild and breezy conditions will persist through Friday before a weekend storm brings cooler temperatures.

Current Conditions

Today is expected to be mostly cloudy to partly sunny with highs in the lower 60s. Winds will be lighter than yesterday but will increase tonight and tomorrow.

Temperature Outlook

Storm and Precipitation Forecast

On Thursday, a new storm system approaches, but the day will stay dry with highs in the mid to upper 50s. Showers and possibly embedded thunder are expected Thursday night into Friday morning.

After the morning showers on Friday, the rest of the day will be mild and breezy with highs around the lower 60s.

Weekend Weather

The weekend storm will likely arrive by Saturday afternoon. Showers are anticipated with highs in the lower 50s, followed by a significant drop in temperature on Sunday.

Precipitation should end by Sunday morning, clearing out before the Bears game.

“There is much ballyhoo already about potential snow arriving Sunday or Monday and here’s what I will say about that: The US model has scaled back its ridiculous snowfall prediction from yesterday.”

Mike Caplan, FOX 32

Summary

Chicago will experience mild, breezy weather with a weekend storm bringing colder temperatures and showers, but the previously forecasted heavy snow is now less likely.
