The upcoming movie musical Wicked: For Good introduces two new songs alongside the familiar tracks from the second act of the Broadway hit Wicked. The sequel continues the story of Elphaba and Glinda, expanding their emotional journeys beyond the stage version.
In the first part, the story concluded with Elphaba, played by Cynthia Erivo, performing “Defying Gravity” after she and her best friend Glinda, portrayed by Ariana Grande, discovered the truth about the Wizard, played by Jeff Goldblum.
Director Jon M. Chu revealed in an interview that Wicked: For Good will introduce two fresh songs that deepen the story’s emotional core. Erivo will perform “No Place Like Home,” while Grande sings “The Girl in the Bubble.”
“Both witches are trying to find their way home,” Chu said in a September 2025 interview with Entertainment Weekly. “Both of these songs are about how to do that, and it’s questions I’ve always wanted to hear from them in the stage show, but never got to.”
Both tracks were composed by Stephen Schwartz, the original creator of the Broadway musical. Audiences got an early preview during NBC’s special Wicked: One Wonderful Night ahead of the film’s November 2025 premiere.
The film continues Elphaba and Glinda’s story with two heartfelt new songs by Stephen Schwartz, giving fans fresh insight into the witches’ search for belonging.
