The NHS has issued an urgent call for flu vaccinations, with England’s top nurse urging people to get protected now, as the worst part of the flu season is only weeks away.
Eligible adults are encouraged to get vaccinated promptly to ensure full protection ahead of the winter peak. This year, flu cases have surged more than a month earlier than usual, with rates three times higher than at the same time last year.
“The flu vaccination is the best possible way to protect yourself and your loved ones against flu as we move into the winter months. It’s a quick and easy painless injection and it really will help you keep yourself and your family well through winter.”
Allison Cannon, Chief Nursing Officer for NHS Sussex, shared this message after receiving her own flu shot, urging locals to take up the offer without delay.
