Pete Davidson unexpectedly appeared on Saturday Night Live during the "Weekend Update" segment, where he and Colin Jost humorously discussed the Staten Island Ferry they reportedly bought together.
Colin Jost introduced Davidson in a comedic bit referencing a recent New York Times article that called their Staten Island Ferry investment a "money losing fiasco."
“The New York Times recently ran an article calling the Staten Island Ferry that I purchased with Pete Davidson a ‘money losing fiasco.’ With more on this, is Pete Davidson,” Jost said amid laughter as Davidson entered the scene.
Davidson greeted the hosts, joked about his participation in the Riyadh Comedy Festival, and revealed he's expecting a child.
“Colin, you’re looking great as ever. [Michael] Che, starting to crack,” Davidson said. “So yeah, in case you’re wondering why I had to do a show in Saudi Arabia, we’re losing millions on this ferry. I assume that’s what the article says. I can’t spend $5 on a paywall when I got a kid on the way.”
The two traded jokes about renaming the ferry and its success.
“We even gave the boat a new name, you know. We thought the Staten Island Ferry sounded too depressing, so now it’s called the Titanic 2,” Davidson joked. “That’s right, and it’s actually going very well,” Jost added. “Recently, we got paid by Nike to put an ad on it for the New York City Marathon.”
