Woman and Child Drown in Dandenong Creek

Police reported that a woman and a child lost their lives after falling into Dandenong Creek on the afternoon of November 10. The incident occurred near Allan Street around 3:45 p.m., when witnesses saw two people being swept away by the current.

According to investigators, the woman reportedly entered the water to rescue the child but soon faced difficulties herself. Emergency responders found both individuals unconscious during a search of the area.

“They were pulled from the water, and officers started CPR, but both could not be revived and were declared deceased at the scene,” police said.

At this stage, authorities are still working to identify the victims, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
