South Australians are advised to avoid consuming Aussie Sprouts Alfalfa Sprouts made by Parilla Fresh following a national recall due to a possible Salmonella contamination.
The recall arises from a joint investigation by health and food safety authorities into a rise in a rare type of Salmonella infection. Parilla Fresh has voluntarily recalled the product while further testing and investigation take place.
Several other alfalfa sprout brands by Parilla Fresh are being recalled in other states, but only the Aussie Sprouts Alfalfa Sprouts are sold and recalled in South Australia.
SA Health reports that the affected alfalfa sprouts were available in multiple supermarkets, including Coles and Woolworths, in South Australia. All recalled products come in 125g packs with use-by dates up to and including 20 November 2025.
"Don't eat this particular product and if you have purchased the Aussie Sprouts Alfalfa Sprouts, you can return it to the point of sale or dispose of it," said Karen Ferres, Director of Food Safety and Regulation.
Further details and a full list of affected products are available on the Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) website.
Summary: Parilla Fresh has voluntarily recalled Aussie Sprouts Alfalfa Sprouts nationwide due to potential Salmonella contamination, and consumers in South Australia are urged to return or discard the products.
