The Toronto Marlies fell 5-1 to the Providence Bruins on Friday night at Harbouryard Arena in Portland, Maine.
The first period saw the Bruins take the lead, with a goal from Chris Boudreau at 1:56 into the game. The Marlies tied the game at 12:15, but the Bruins took the lead back at 16:03. The Bruins finished the period with a 3-1 lead.
In the second period, the Bruins scored two more goals to take a 5-1 lead. The Marlies were unable to get any further scoring in the period.
The Marlies outshot the Bruins 31-23 in the game, but were unable to capitalize on their chances.
“We fought hard, but we just couldn't get it going tonight,” said Marlies head coach Greg Terrion. “We'll regroup and come back ready to go tomorrow.”
Kyle Clifford scored the lone goal for the Marlies, while Kevin Poulin made 18 saves in the loss.
The Marlies will face the Bruins again on Saturday night in Portland, Maine.
