Kimera Prepares Motorsport Debut with the K39

After reviving the Lancia 037 legend with the EVO37 and EVO38, Kimera Automobili is set to make a bold new move. Founded by former rally driver Luca Betti, the Italian brand is entering competition with the radical K39, a modern tribute to the Lancia Beta Montecarlo Groupe 5 cars of the 1970s and 1980s.

The K39: A Fusion of Heritage and Innovation

Unveiled in summer 2024, the Kimera K39 combines nostalgia with cutting-edge performance. Its name continues the lineage from the EVO37 and EVO38, but this model is a full-fledged racing car designed to excel on the track.

Design and Aerodynamics

The K39’s design references the iconic Martini Racing livery, reimagined with a futuristic approach. It features a carbon-fiber body, sculpted fins, sharp lines, and meticulously engineered aerodynamics. According to Kimera, the car is

“shaped by the wind,”
the result of extensive virtual wind tunnel development.

Mechanical Specifications

Built on a custom carbon monocoque chassis, the K39 houses a twin-turbocharged V8 engine paired with a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS). This combination delivers a maximum power output of 828 horsepower.

While detailed performance data is not yet disclosed, the K39 appears ready to rival many top supercars in terms of speed and capability.

“Shaped by the wind,” Kimera refers to the many hours spent optimizing the car’s aerodynamics in a virtual wind tunnel.
