Greenville Tech Partners with Goodwill to Support Students in Need

On October 17, Greenville Technical College hosted a drive-through donation event in collaboration with Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina. The collection focused on clothing and household goods to benefit students and local families.

“It directly translates into resources for students and our community,” said Chunsta Miller, vice president of communication and public engagement for Goodwill. “Every single donation is a gift of support, helping Goodwill power our mission while providing vital assistance to our community. It’s a true win-win that shows the power of the Upstate coming together.”

The total weight of donated items allowed Goodwill to provide 20 gift cards, each valued at $20, to students supported by Greenville Technical College’s STAR Center. These cards can be redeemed at Goodwill stores.

About the STAR Center

The STAR Center assists Greenville Tech students facing financial challenges by offering groceries, basic necessities, and emergency aid. Recent college data show that 39% of students experience food insecurity, 46% face unstable housing, and 33% run out of money six or more times yearly.

“We are grateful to Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands SC for joining with us to remove barriers,” said Gina Bridges, director of the STAR Center.

Impact and Community Support

The collaboration highlights the region’s commitment to supporting education and community well-being through generosity and partnership.
