Claire Austin, 38, reportedly ran through a glass door between a bedroom and sunroom of the Randwick flat she shared with Lee Robert Loughlin in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
Austin, a marketing and events consultant from the UK living in Australia for ten years, is believed to have partially severed an artery during an alleged argument with her boyfriend, Loughlin, 44. The incident occurred on April 12.
Loughlin was arrested on Thursday and did not apply for bail when he appeared before a bail court on Friday, charged with Austin’s murder.
According to court documents reported by news.com.au, Loughlin allegedly engaged “in abusive behaviour” intended to “coerce or control” Austin and could “cause fear that violence would be used” against her.
Austin died three days after the incident at St Vincent's Hospital. The couple reportedly had a disagreement on the morning of the incident while living together on the top floor of the flat.
