Remembrance Day Ceremonies in the North Okanagan

Remembrance Day events are scheduled for November 11 across the North Okanagan. Vernon will hold its main ceremony indoors at Kal Tire Place South.

Vernon Ceremony Details

The City of Vernon and the Royal Canadian Legion have again teamed up to organize the service. The program begins with a musical prelude at 9:50 a.m., followed by the parade of veterans, colours, and the flag at 10:25 a.m.

A minute of silence will be observed at 11 a.m. to honor those who never returned home.

The ceremony also includes a reading of Flanders Field, a prayer, and other formalities, concluding with the laying of wreaths. Attendance is free, and poppies will be distributed by donation.

Outdoor Ceremony at Vernon Cenotaph

An additional event is planned outdoors at the Vernon Cenotaph, starting at 10:30 a.m. It is organized by the Vernon Elks Lodge #45 and the Army, Navy and Airforce Veterans #5. After the ceremony, food and refreshments will be available at both locations.
